Under the hood is a powerful 302 horsepower motor. This 5.0-liter V8 is lightweight from aluminum and magnesium. It will definitely sink you back in your seat getting you from 0-60 mph in around 6 seconds. It transfers power to the wheels through a smooth shifting 5-speed automatic transmission. The TouchShift manual gear selection allows you to simulate a manual transmission at the push of a button for a sportier feel. It allows for high revved driving and downshifting through turns.

One of the more revolutionary technologies used in this car is the electrical brake system. When you step on the brake, a signal is sent to each wheel, which decipher the force needed for optimal deceleration. It is also programmed to recognize a panic situation when the driver quickly shifts foot from the gas to the brake. The net result is a stopping distance of 110 feet from 60 mph. That's impressive and unmatched in its class. In the event of an electrical failure engineers equipped this Sl with a backup system that mechanically operates the front brakes. This SL500 also has an Electronic Stability Program that works with the brake system. Within milliseconds sensors use wheel speed, steering input, with lateral G-forces to apply pressure to corresponding sides of the car in keeping it safe from out of control skids.
This Mercedes handles well cruising as it does during aggressive driving. While cornering an array of hydraulic servos within the cars suspension raise and lower from on-board sensors to reduce body roll. Standard suspension systems compress in corners leaning out of a turn. Even through aggressive driving this SL500 stays flat while cornering so you have a more composed ride. Cornering in the car feels slower, but you're actually going faster because the car is doing the work for you. It has the unusual combination of luxury comfort with sport car handling.

This model came loaded form the factory with options. It starts at the push of a button. Heated and cooled seats allow you to stay comfortable no matter how cold or hot it is outside.  These seats are also power adjustable with a pulsating massage function. It has a premium interior package that gives you top notch leather as well as wood veneered accents. 19" alloy wheels give it a sophisticated look that suits its aggressive stance. By far my favorite feature is the panoramic glass window on the retractable sunroof. So even when the top is up the interior feels roomier with a view.
